01 / The perspective

At the intersection of people, knowledge & technology

I make complexity
work for people.

The best strategy has to survive contact with the real world.

I bring more than 20 years of public-service experience to strategic delivery: understanding operational problems, designing a workable response and leading its adoption.

Since 2023, I’ve led the strategy and implementation of an enterprise organisational-learning capability. I designed the workflows, information structures and governance, worked with forward deployed engineers to create the Power Platform product, then implemented it and trained its users.

My experience also includes adapting that capability for a specialist national organisation, improving training outcomes and advising Axon Enterprise on responsible technology. I connect operational users, senior leaders and technical teams around work that needs to succeed in practice.

01

Deployment strategy

Turning ambition into operating models, practical workflows and adoption that lasts.

02

Organisational intelligence

Connecting knowledge, decisions and experience so an organisation can learn from what it knows.

03

Responsible technology adoption

Bringing operational reality, governance and public trust into decisions about AI and emerging technology.

02 / Selected impact

Ideas are useful.
Outcomes matter.

Experience built where decisions carry real consequences, resources are constrained and change has to earn people’s trust.

Leadership hours released per year · annualised at the last known count

Less time collating.
More time leading.

The system I designed and implemented put queryable operational insight directly into leaders’ hands. By the last known count, 20 monthly leadership meetings had been removed, improving capacity alongside more accurate planning and workforce tasking. The strategy and system also helped a department sustain and evidence improvement, enabling its exit from enhanced external scrutiny.

£199kapproximate annual salary value of released capacity
46,000+workforce served by the framework
400+users directly trained

I personally developed the system training and train-the-trainer package, enabling the organisation to continue rollout and maintain qualified personnel independently of me.

Annualised from 20 cancelled monthly meetings. Salary-equivalent capacity, not cash savings. See the calculation and assumptions.

Adoption in a second organisation

From proof of concept
to full adoption.

Adapted the model for a compact national counter-terrorism organisation, changing permissions, administration and training to fit a different operating environment.

Success rates. Reimagined.

More than doubled success rates across specialist national training pathways through evidence-based redesign and support tailored to how people learn.

An idea I keep coming back to

Your organisation
knows more than
it can remember.

Decisions, lessons and experience are infrastructure. When they disappear into disconnected systems or leave with people, organisations lose more than information. They lose the ability to learn.

Make it visible. Make it valuable.

Corporate memory as infrastructureCapture → govern → share → learn
04 / Thinking out loud

Better questions.
Broader perspectives.

I write about technology, governance and the human systems around them. Curiosity, evidence and a little healthy disagreement.

Research Insight

What does the evidence change in practice?

A research finding becomes useful when we understand the conditions behind it. Before adopting a technology, I want to know what was tested, where the evidence stops and what needs checking in the environment where people will use it.

Friday Friction

Who checks whether AI is working?

Leaders need the knowledge to challenge performance claims and the means to investigate failures. Responsible deployment includes clear ownership, credible evaluation and a workable response when a system behaves in unexpected ways.

Sunday Satire

A new interface is not always better access.

A service can become more automated while becoming harder to reach. Humour helps expose the gap between a successful technology rollout and the experience of a person trying to get help.

These are recurring themes in my writing on research, governance and the human consequences of technology.

05 / How I work

Curious about
the system.
Committed to
the people.

Complexity needs a clear direction, space for challenge and ownership that lasts beyond launch.

01

Understand the reality.

Start with the people doing the work. Find the context, constraints and knowledge that the process map misses.

02

Connect the pieces.

Bring operational users, leaders and technical teams into a shared understanding of the problem and what good looks like.

03

Build for what comes next.

Design for adoption, assurance and adaptation. A system needs to keep learning after the project ends.
